Discutir e avaliar os principais aspectos populacionais e reprodutivos nos crustáceos decápodes, traçando uma análise comparativa entre os diferentes grupos. Este objetivo será alcançado estudando-se detalhes destas duas áreas de pesquisa visando, desta forma, entender as principais adaptações e o sucesso evolutivo do grupo.


Os crustáceos destacam-se como um grupo com grande êxito no processo evolutivo, tanto pelo número de espécies viventes como pela diversidade de habitats e estratégias reprodutivas diversificadas, desempenhadas ao longo do ciclo de vida nos mais diferentes ambientes. Assim, o conhecimento dos fatores que controlam e influenciam o fenômeno da reprodução e da dinâmica populacional são imprescindíveis para o entendimento do significativo adaptativo apresentado.

- Parâmetros reprodutivos: período reprodutivo, potencial reprodutivo, fecundidade, comportamento reprodutivo, tamanho da maturidade morfológica e fisiológica, sistemas de acasalamento e sistemas sexuais, cópula, fecundação, desova.
- Como estudar o sistema reprodutor por meio da microscopia óptica e eletrônica
- Padrões do sistema reprodutor feminino em Decapoda: anatomia, histologia e ultraestrutura da maturação oocítica, estágios ovarianos, e maturidade fisiológica versus morfológica em fêmeas
- Padrões do sistema reprodutor masculino em Decapoda: anatomia, histologia e ultraestrutura da espermatogênese, vaso deferente e glândulas acessórias.
- Espermiotaxonomia: padrões de espermatóforo e espermatozoide em Decapoda
- Diversidade de órgãos de armazenamento de esperma e transferência espermática: plugs espermáticos, pacotes espermáticos e fertilização em Decapoda.

• Aulas práticas: análise da morfologia: a) externa para observação de caracteres utilizados na sistemática do grupo, checagem de sexo, etc.; b) interna com observação e caracterização de estruturas reprodutivas (gônadas, sutura genital, espermatóforo, etc.); morfologia das larvas
• Seminários apresentados pelos alunos abordando os principais temas tratados em aulas teóricas e práticas, bem como a discussão de textos e artigos científicos atuais.
• Possibilidade de atividade de campo para complementação prática (condicionada a disponibilidade)

- Ementa da Disciplina: (máximo 10 linhas): A disciplina abrangerá aspectos sobre a biologia reprodutiva e populacional dos Crustacea Decapoda enfatizando os diferentes aspectos que norteiam estas duas linhas de pesquisas. As aulas terão cunho teórico-prático acompanhados de seminários específicos dos temas a serem propostos.
