The course's objective is to review and deepen understanding of essential concepts in the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well to provide specific training in functional analysis of behaviors in environmental situations that require knowledge and detailing of variables relevant to the analysis.

At the end of the course, students must be able to identify the environmental variables most significant for understanding a given psychological situation at the various levels of healthcare delivery, as well as be able to identify concepts and techniques to be used in diagnoses and interventions in the health field and in teaching Psychology of Health.

There are many preconceptions and misconceptions regarding Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, while knowledge concerning Cognitive Therapies, which were associated with Behavioral Therapy to coin this new theoretical orientation in Psychology, called Psychotherapy of Cognitive Behavioral Orientation, is imprecise.

This course is intended to help students establish their own fundamentals in applied behavior analysis, especially in the analysis of variables necessary to understand physical, emotional, or behavioral pathological processes. Hence, the final objectives include: learning how to analyze variables relevant to the process of becoming ill, properly conceptualizing them and performing a proper functional analysis.
